Arts Market
The last Saturday of every month (June 28, July 26, August 30), Arts Market is held in Palmer Park and allows local and regional artists and artisans to display and sell their work. Admission is free and works range from photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, painting, woodwork to clothing, soap, candles and other crafts.
The 20th Anniversary International Arts Festival is now September 13 - 14 at Scouts Island, City Park. Come celebrate global cultures, international arts, music, food, and crafts. Over the past 20 years, musicians participating in the Festival have included India.Arie, Akon, Floetry, Steel Pulse, the Roots, Bamboula 2000, and many more.
White Linen Night is an annual arts event in the Warehouse Arts District and the Contemporary Arts Center on the first Saturday in August. This year's White Linen Night is scheduled for Saturday, August 2. Art openings at over 20 galleries feature a variety of local, national and international artists. Music, cash bars, restaurant specials. Always resourceful, the New Orleans art community devised Dirty Linen Night the following Saturday. Wear your dirty linen from White Linen Night to Dirty Linen Night on Royal Street to browse the art and antiques.
Art for Art's Sake
Held each year on the first Saturday in October, Art for Art's Sake is a festival dedicated to the eclectic New Orleans art scene and celebrates the opening of the fall season. Centered around Julia Street, the Warehouse Arts District and Magazine Street, Art for Art's Sake provides locals and visitors an opportunity to enjoy art from contemporary to classic, photography to sculpture to mixed media and everything in between. The Contemporary Arts Center holds a reception and party just to get everyone in the spirit of the evening. This year Art for Art's Sake is scheduled for October 4, 2008.
